Charlotte Gunn

PGR Researcher at Aston University

E:cgunn22@aston.ac.uk

Welcome, I'm Charlotte Gunn; please call me Charlie.

I am a graduate of Coventry University with an MSc in Psychology. I am currently working towards my PhD at Aston University, focused on workplace mental health for vulnerable neurodivergent Emerging Adults. My work is predominantly qualitative, using creative methodologies with a view to creating edible sculptures and paintings on edible materials. The intention of this research is to fill a gap within the literature around mental health support for young, vulnerable adults workplace mental health support. As well as further my passion and interest in vulnerable young adults by creating a tool kit for workplace mental health for vulnerable young neurodivergent adults.

Currently, my Supervisors at Aston Univerity are Professor Michael Larkin and Professor Rachel Shaw

Current Research

My current research has also prompted discussion at a recent interdisciplinary conference and the creation of accessible participant information sheets that are designed to be more accessible for research participants who are part of vulnerable groups. You can see her award-winning poster and access links to accessibility guidance here

I can not put enough emphasis on my passion and understanding of the importance of making research accessible. This includes using accessible methodologies within the research for both recruitment and methodological design of protocols that make some way towards accessing harder-to-reach research groups. I am currently working on a study where we are using edible materials within qualitative research. Influenced by the work of a local employability training program in central Birmingham and other studies that have used creative methodologies, I have worked towards taking careful time to understand the importance of exploring different options to build an understanding of experience within qualitative research.
